Product Ordering Questions

Q:  Will you set my draw weight and draw length on my compound bow before shipping?
A:  If you order a bow that has an adjustable draw length by changing a module we will have the module changed to your draw length before shipping. All other adult bows are typically shipped at a 29" draw length that can be adjusted on the cam. Also, most bows are shipped at the peak draw weight and we typically don't adjust the weight before shipping. But may be able to on a case by case basis.

Q:  What if the product I want to order has a (SO) next to it?
A:  Products marked with a (SO) are "special order" products. These are products that are not stocked items. However, for your convenience we are willing to order these items direct from the manufacturer for you. However, it also means these orders will be shipped only after about 4-6 weeks. Go to our policies page for more information. Click here

Q:  I did not get a users manual with my purchase, how do I obtain one?
A:  Many of the manuals for our archery products are available in PDF format on the manufacturers' websites. If you need help locating one please contact PickASpotArchery.com for more information.

Q:  Can I upgrade my bow with newer cams?
A:  In most cases it is not cost effective for you to do that. New limbs, Cable, String, Idler Wheel and Cam will need to be purchased. That money is better spent on a new bow that has new technology incorporated into it.

Diamond Specific Questions

Q:  What is the difference between BowTech and Diamond bows?
A:  Both brands are made in the same facility and with the same quality of components. The main difference between BowTech and Diamond bows is the cam technology. BowTech bows utilize the Binary™ dual cam system and Diamond bows utilize a single cam.

Q:  Where can I find out the string and cable length of my bow?
A:  Based on your bow model, and the model year, you can find your string and cable lengths in the Diamond reference documents.

Q:  What module do I need for my draw length and where do I set the let-off post?
A:  Your draw length module is determined by the year and model of your Diamond bow, find it in the Diamond reference documents.

Q:  Does my bow have a warranty?
A:  All Diamond bows sold by an Authorized Diamond Dealer come with a non-transferable lifetime warranty to the registered original owner. This warranty protects against any failures of the product due to defects in material or workmanship, and does not include any damage due to abuse, misuse or modifications to the bow’s design. The following exclusions apply:

  • Cable slide, cable and strings, Hush kit, bearings, paint and/or hydrographic film transferred finishes.
  • Damage caused by abuse, mishandling, dry-firing, alteration or modification to original product.
  • Other excluded damages are those resulting from either loose mod screws or shooting arrows less the five grains per pound of draw weight.

Q:  I need a warranty repair, do I do?
A:  Contact PickASpotArchery.com for instructions of what to do for a warranty repair.

Q:  My strings and cable need replaced what should I do?
A:  Your local Authorized Diamond Dealer should perform any maintenance that requires a bow press – this includes changing your string and cables.

Q:  What is the benefit of using Diamond factory made string and cables?
A:  Diamond utilizes the most state of the art string-making techniques in the compound bow industry. We pride ourselves in giving you the most technically advanced bows out there, right down the string and cables. Diamond strings and cables go through a 6 point quality check off on each and every piece. All strings and cables are pre-stretched over a set period of time, and then stretched again while serving to maintain the set diameter. What does this mean to me, you ask? By maintaining the designed string and cable diameters and lengths, they will sit correctly in the cam tracks and you can rest assured that you will maintain all the speed and performance potential of your Diamond bow.

Q:  How often should I change my string and cables?
A:  String and cable life is susceptible to a couple different factors. The first would be how much you shoot your bow, and second would be how well you take care of your strings. We recommend you regularly wax your string with a quality silicone based string wax. Most strings will last thousands of shots. As a pre-season practice, inspect your string for cuts, abrasions and fuzziness. These all can be signs that your string and cable(s) may need to be replaced. When in doubt, take your bow to your local Authorized Diamond Dealer and they can assist you in getting new Diamond String and Cable(s) set on your bow, if needed.

Q:  What should come with my new 2009 bow?
A:  Your Diamond bow should include an Owner’s Manual packet. In this packet you will find your Owner’s Manual, Diamond decal, warranty registration card, and information on other great products.

Q:  I am registering my bow, but where is my serial number located?
A:  Your serial number is located on the riser, just below the arrow rest mounting holes (berger button holes). The Razor Edge and Nuclear Ice do not have serial numbers. When registering these bows, simply enter NONE in the Serial Number field.

Q:  Where is the centershot of my bow?
A:  This can be set by measuring from the back of the riser to the arrow and then from the front of the riser to the arrow. Once this is equal, you are at the centershot of your bow. Keep in mind, not all bows tune at exact centershot due to the variances in arrow spine and your specific bow poundage. This is merely a starting point.

Q:  Where are Diamond bows made?
A:  Diamond bows are manufactured and assembled in Eugene, Oregon.

Q:  Are there any past models still available?
A:  We may still have your favorite prior year bow model available, please contact PickASpotArchery.com.

Product Technical Questions

Q:  How do you rate your bow speeds?
A:  IBO speed ratings are the industry standard and are calculated by shooting an arrow at 5 grains per draw weight pound (350-grain) using a 70 lb. bow with a 30" draw.

Q:  To prevent wear what should I lube and what type of lube should I use? Can I do this myself?
A:  The axles should be lightly lubed regularly with a good Teflon based lube such as Tri-Flow, RemOil, Tetra Lube or equivalent. DO NOT USE WD 40. We also recommend using Inhibitor Rust Preventative. To prevent the limb pockets from possibly drying out and making noise, they should be kept lightly lubed with lithium grease. Because tearing the bow down is necessary, it's best that an Authorized Dealer or Pro Shop perform these two preventative maintenance procedures.

Q:  What is brace height?
A:  Brace height is the distance between the pivot point of the grip and the string at rest.

Q:  How do I measure draw length?
A:  You should visit your local dealer to be properly measured. The measurement procedure consists of drawing a bow back properly and measuring the distance between the anchor point and nock point at full draw. It is very important that your bow fit your correctly. To ensure proper fit, be measured by your local archery shop. If you would like to attempt measuring your own draw length measure your wingspan and divide that number by 2.5, the resulting number should be your draw length.

Q:  Am I right or left handed?
A:  The hand you use to right with is not always the same hand you use to shoot a bow with. It is important your bow fit you properly. Please be sure to visit your local dealer to have them test you for right or left handedness.

Q:  How many turns can I back my limb bolts out?
A:  You can turn the limb bolt up to four complete turns from the bottom.

Q:  Do you know what my kinetic energy is for my bow and how can I figure it out?
A:  You have to know the speed of the bow and the weight of the arrow. The formula for calculating kinetic energy is;

KINETIC ENERGY = W(V²) / 2G
W = Arrow Weight (gr.)/7,000
V = Velocity ( fps)
G = Acceleration due to Gravity (32.16 fps²)

Example;

A 540 grain arrow shot at 242 fps from a compound bow.
KE = (540/7000)(242)²
2(32.16)
KE = (.077)(58564)
64.32
KE = 4509.43
64.32
KE = 70.11 ft lbs

Q:  When I pull my bow there is a squeak and it sounds like it is coming from the limb pocket, what should I do?
A:  If there is a squeak from the limb pocket when you pull your bow back it could be many different things. It could be the limb pivots pads, limbs bolts and sometimes it might not even have anything to do with the limbs. If the problem persist we suggest you call our customer service department and discuss the situation with a service tech. If a solution can’t be arrived at it may be necessary to return the bow for service. Please refer to the section dealing with repair and warranty work.

Product Damage Questions

Q:  I'm having some serving separation or fraying on my buss cable, why?
A:  In most cases this is caused by the draw stop not being set up properly, which can allow the cam to over-rotate and will most often result in premature cable wear. For proper draw stop settings, please refer to the draw stop setting charts in the Owner's Manual pertaining to your bow or see an Authorized Dealer for assistance.

Q:  My bow has a crack in the limb, is it under warranty?
A:  If you are the original owner of your bow then more than likely your limbs are covered under warranty. There are occasions when equipment is no longer covered under our warranty. Please contact PickASpotArchery.com for more information.
